WINGS OVER WAIRARAPA CHARITABLE TRUST BOARD
Flying is the core business of Wings Over Wairarapa but entertainment is the core goal.
The Wings airshow has been going since 1999 run by Tom Williams and his dedicated team of volunteers from the Sport and Vintage Aviation Society. Tom engaged the Wings Over Wairarapa Community Trust to take over the governance of the show following the 2011 event and the Trust (not Wings Over Wairarapa Charitable Trust) and the Sport and Vintage Aviation Society (now the Wairarapa Flying Tigers) still work together to deliver the show every 2 years.
The Purpose of Wings:
raise capital to further develop the Hood Aerodrome as a tourism destination of significance. Maintain and grow Wings Over Wairarapa as a premier special event for the Wairarapa / Wellington region.
contribute, in a significant manner, to the Wairarapa economy.
profile the Wairarapa region both nationally and internationally.
Wings Over Wairarapa is more than an air festival, aiming to provide visitors with a full experience and value for money event which they want to return to year after year. Therefore, it is important to keep the flying line up and activities varied to give people a new and local Wairarapa experience.
Flying is the core business but entertainment is the core goal.
