Driving to Wings of Wairarapa Air Festival?

Lots of people drive to Wings from the north and south please leave home early, give yourself plenty of time and be patient.Watch for the signposted special traffic route to the Aerodrome, designed to let traffic move as smoothly as possible.

Driving from Wellington:

After arriving in Featherston stay on SH2 until you see Air Festival traffic signs at Carterton directing you down Moreton Road. Follow these signs which re-routes all Air Festival traffic to Manaia Road car parking areas. There will be a short walk from the car park to the main gate on Manaia Road. Volunteers will be on hand to direct you or shuttles will be available for transfers for a gold coin donation.

Driving from Palmerston North:

After arriving in Masterton from SH2, Air Festival traffic signs will begin. Follow these signs down Chapel St leading onto High St. Turn left onto South Belt which leads onto Manaia Road to the car parking areas. There will be a short walk from the car park to the main gate on Manaia Road. Volunteers will be on hand to direct you or shuttles will be available for transfers for a gold coin donation.

Getting to Wings is easy. Close to Wellington and Palmerston North, there are also plenty of transport options.

Coming from Wellington or the Hutt Valley?

Get to and from Wings Over Wairarapa Air Festival in Masterton on Saturday 23rd February with ease thanks to Tranzit Coachlines.

Enjoy the 20th Anniversary of this popular event which includes extensive on-the-ground entertainment and an exciting flying programme that gets underway at 2pm and continues throughout the afternoon before culminating with a stunning night show until 9.30pm.

Package up your Air Festival tickets with bus transfers or just buy your bus tickets.

The bus will depart Wellington Railway Station at 11.30am and include pick ups in Petone, Melling and Upper Hutt Railway Stations.

The bus will depart the Air Festival at 10pm after the night show providing you with a safe journey home.

The most convenient airport to Masterton is Palmerston North, approximately 90 minutes’ drive north of Masterton on SH2.  Frequent flights from Auckland and Christchurch to Palmerston North make it easy to travel from the North or South Island to Masterton.  Rental cars and shuttles are available from the airport
