Whether you are an aviation enthusiast or just want an entertaining weekend away for the family, Wings 2017 Air Festival has so much to offer.  In addition to the spectacular flying programme there are hundreds of ground displays and activities, a myriad of Wine and Food options, as well as activities for small and big kids alike. 

Internationally renowned and the largest air show in the North Island, Wings will bring over 70 different aircraft to Masterton for a weekend of on the ground and in the air entertainment. Held only every two years, this Wings will be bigger, brighter, bolder and noisier than any Wings before it with some exciting changes to the programme. We can’t wait to see what you think of the new show.

Schools Programme

Exclusive access for schools

Thousands of School Children from throughout the lower north island will be able to visit Wings Over Wairarapa on Friday.

Best of all, they can come back again on Saturday and Sunday with their parents and children with a Schools pass won't have to pay to get in again.

A private grandstand for Gold Pass is the best spot, right in front of the action ensuring you have the best view on the aerodrome.

Hints for "Flying In"

  • Make sure you familiarise yourself with the Airways Corporation AIP Supplement for February 2017.
  • A $10 landing fee is payable on arrival, we'll have cash and limited EFTPOS facilities available. You'll need to have pre-purchased your ticket or purchase on arrival
  • You need to arrive before the flying programme starts at 10.15am and leave after the flying programme ends at 4.30pm. 
  • We have 2 parking locations and you'll be parked on a first come first served basis. The closest park is a short walk to the Air Show entry gate. The second park will have transport provided
  • There is no camping on the airfield, please visit our accommodation page if required

Please Note: Wings Over Wairarapa Community Trust will hold the Wings Over Wairarapa 2017 aviation event at Masterton aerodrome over the period 17 to 19 February 2017. A temporary restricted area will be prescribed to facilitate the safety of air navigation. Masterton aerodrome will be closed to all traffic, except authorised airshow participants and emergencies (including Wairarapa Hospital operations), when NZR590 is active. All pilots should refer to the NZ CAA AIP Supplement for details.
